iron tea kettle

This is a beloved Medina institution — an old fashioned hardware store where you can ask for five small nails if that’s all you need, and someone will climb a ladder to get them for you  from the old oak drawers that line the walls.

But a well-kept secret is the outstanding kitchen store in the basement where you can find every imaginable cooking gadget — like this classic cast-iron tea kettle.

Hope this is the proper place to write this. I have been trying to find out something about the cast iron kettle I have that belonged to my great great grandfather. You have a picture of it! Mine is not so new looking, but is exactly the same. I was thinking about actually using it, but the inside is a bit limed up and rusty and I’m not sure how to season the kettle. Anyway, I’m happy to find out a little more about it! Do they still make them??
